Butterball to Close Jonesboro, Arkansas, Processing Plant

Dec. 6, 2024
The further-processing of turkey products will be shifted from Jonesboro to other Butterball facilities after it closes in February 2025.

Turkey processor Butterball will close its Jonesboro, Ark., processing plant in 2025, according to local news reports citing a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the state.

The closure will result in job losses for about 180 employees, and Butterball expects to shift production to other facilities in its network. The plant further-processes turkey products that have already been slaughtered and first-processed at other plants.

Butterball plans to close the facility Feb. 3, 2025, and employees will be paid until that date if they work through their scheduled end of service date — and they will be eligible for a severance package, plus medical benefits through the end of February, according to the news report.

With the closure of Jonesboro, Butterball will be down to two processing plants in Arkansas: one in Huntsville and another in Ozark.
