Canada Cannabis Company Organigram Acquires Collective Project Limited Beverages
Canadian cannabis company Organigram Global Inc. has acquired Collective Project Limited (CPL), a Canadian company that produces cannabis and hemp-derived infused sparkling juices, teas and sodas, and is known for highlighting thousands of artists on its packaging. The deal is for 100% of issued and outstanding shares of CPL, for which Organigram is paying about CAD $6.2 million (about $4.3 million in U.S. dollars). It includes potential milestone payments and potential earnout payments totaling in the aggregate up to CAD $24 million (about $16.7 million U.S.) for the 12-month periods ending Sept. 30, 2025, and Sept. 30, 2026.
The move gives Organigram an instant footprint in the U.S. market, which the company believes offers a significant opportunity.
“Not only does this acquisition represent our first commercial entry into the fast-growing hemp-derived THC beverage market in the U.S., it also fast-tracks our entry into the cannabis beverage category in Canada, a category that we believe is on the cusp of growth at home as well,” said Beena Goldenberg, CEO of Organigram. As retailers continue to explore the popularity of THC beverages with consumers, Organigram points out that CPL’s portfolio has made inroads into the channel.
CPL’s portfolio also fills the last major category gap for Organigram, by which Organigram will immediately capture 5.6% of the beverage category in Canada, and in which it believes it has strong upside potential. CPL products feature a premium, flavor-forward approach, and are made with real fruit juice, no artificial sweeteners — along with the aforementioned, ever-changing artist-designed labels.
